There are a lot of stressed out Mamas trying to get their kids to eat healthier.

Many parents worry needlessly about what or how much their kids eat. The good thing here is that Parents value healthy eating and are doing their best to make that happen. Now let's see if we can do that with more ease and less stress.

Here are 5 Tips to Help You Mama!

1. Stop Worrying Over How Much They Ate. "Finish your plate" a sentence many of us heard growing up. But the truth is, kids’ appetites fluctuate with their level of activity, their mood, their growth, even their bowel movements. In fact, you want to encourage them to listen to their body and to stop eating when they feel full. This is really instilling healthy habits that they will carry into adulthood.

2. Be Your Own Health SHEro. The best part of becoming your own Health SHEro is that you inspire your little ones to do the same. You want to role model good eating habits. Are you cooking at home? Are you sitting down to eat at the table? Is your plate made up of whole foods & a variety of colour? Our kids are watching us more than listening to us.

3. Get The Kids In The Kitchen. If the kids make it, they are more likely to eat it. My kids love making smoothies, energy balls, salads or even cooking with me. And whatever we make, I put it on their plates. Sometimes they eat it other times they don't but they are used to seeing colour on their plate.

4. Have Fun With Your Food. Meal time should definitely be more of a playground than a battleground. Have fun with your food, let them know what the food is good for (carrots great for vision), or come up with some fun names. My kids love calling broccoli, mini trees. Or eating energy balls and then running around the house super fast. We also love to play around with some fun dips, like almond butter, hummus, guacamole, etc...

5. Keep It Simple. Don't be so hard on yourself and be sure to add whole food supplements to their diet. Here are the whole food chewable supplements that my kids take. When a child is absorbing more nutrients their body will actually start craving more whole foods. Check out this video of my daughter here after she started taking whole food supplements.

Parents let's show ourselves some compassion and forgiveness . Let's forget about coaxing, encouraging, threatening or begging our kids to eat healthy. At the end of the day our kids will eat healthy food if we continue to offer it.  And they’ll learn to eat on their own terms too, which is the key to developing healthy habits that they can bring into adulthood.
