Self Love Is The Best Love, Here Are 5 Tips!

Happy Valentine's Day! This day is usually focused on loving others but let's flip the script today and focus on ourselves. 

As Self love is the foundation of health & happiness! 

I remember when someone asked me "on a scale of 1/10 how much do you love yourself?" I thought about it for a minute and said; "I am a solid 8.5/10"

I was proud of my answer, I love myself and there is some room for improvement. 

HOWEVER, it was a trick question.

We either love ourselves fully & completely now EXACTLY as we are or we don't. 

And the truth is the more we LOVE ourselves unconditionally, the more we can love other people unconditionally and the more we are open to receive unconditional love. 

Here are 5 ways to LOVE yourself even more! 

1. Know Your Strengths. When we become aware of our strengths & start using them we FEEL great! Many times through our life we focus on our weaknesses. If we're great at art but our math marks need improvement many people turn to a math tutor. BUT this is the time to turn to a art tutor. We don't need to be amazing at everything. Your strengths are your superpowers! 

2. Don't Compare Yourself To Others. We're all on our own journey. We all have our own lessons to grow through. And we never know what's going on behind the scenes of another person's life. Stay in your lane and focus on you. Focus on growing and learning in your own life. When you are busy loving yourself, focusing on you, you don't have time to compare or focus on others. 

3. Celebrate You! Acknowledge how far you have come and be proud of yourself. When you can celebrate anything and everything, it makes you FEEL good. When you create the time to celebrate you, you can also genuinely celebrate others success as well. The other day my 6 year old daughter reached her top drawer and she celebrated as if she won the lottery. What are the little things you can celebrate today? Let's go through life celebrating the little things and BIG things in our life. 

4. Practice Gratitude. This is a game changer. Gratitude is the fastest path to joy, love and healing. I know many people say write down 3 things that you are grateful for every day. BUT I think this is BS, on rough days I can write down 3 things and still feel like crap! I always suggest to write down a list of things you feel grateful for until you genuinely smile. When you smile you have shifted your energy and you are feeling good.

5. Positive Self Talk. Become aware of how you are describing yourself to others. Is it increasing your LOVE for yourself or decreasing it? Is it empowering you or disempowering you? Never put yourself down not even as a joke. We need to be our own best friend. As women, we tend to have loads of compassion for others but can be very hard on ourselves. If you wouldn't describe another like that don't do it to yourself. Be kind, be loving, be gentle, be forgiving be compassionate to yourself. Doing so increases your Self-Love. It also increases your ability to receive love.
