What To Eat When Feeling Stressed Out!
Oct 22, 2020
When you are stressed out and feeling burnt out, one of the first systems that shuts down is your digestive system.
You see, your body can’t tell the difference if you are:
a) Having an argument with a loved one
b) Putting on a mask while shopping
c) Or running for your life from a T-Rex
Which makes sense as we don’t need to be eating a burger or a bag of chips if we are running for our lives.
Our body then goes into “operation conserve energy” mode and shuts down the digestive system and sends that energy into our fight or flight mode so we can run away and stay alive.
So, as soon as you recognize you are feeling stressed out.
You want to eat food that is easy to digest and loaded with nutrients.
Which includes:
✅ Plant-based foods
✅ Smoothies
✅ Cold-pressed juice
✅ Soups
✅ Whole Food Supplements
Everyone and their mama needs to be taking whole food supplements. The recommended daily dose is 7-10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day! Most people only eat 1-2 servings a day.
I’m sure you have heard the saying “You are what you eat”? Well that’s actually not true. It is “You are what you absorb.” So, when we are stressed, even if we are eating healthy, we may not be absorbing the nutrients.
This is why my family and I all take the Juice Plus Capsules or their Chewables every single day. Which is great, even on pizza nights. To find out more click HERE.
Here is a list of Foods that you want to avoid:
❌ Coffee
❌ Sugar
❌ Gluten
❌ Dairy
❌ Alcohol
Now, it may be tempting to reach for some ice cream or a glass of wine when feeling stressed. But all of those foods put even more stress on your body, and they will cause immediate inflammation within your body as well. That inflammation is going to park itself wherever there is weakness in the body. Think your genes, reoccurring injury, pain, sickness or illness etc…
So, it’s incredibly important to eat a healing diet when we are feeling stressed out.
Here is one of my go-to meals when I am feeling stressed out.
